A triple album in which the cultural memory of Broadway and jazz standards is approached as living material. Familiar songs are not reproduced but remembered, displaced and transformed through twenty-four-tone equal temperament.

Playing with standards 1, 2 & 3 appeared on CD in January 2023. The complete music is also available digitally, where the absence of the physical sequence makes for a more fragmentary listening experience.

Songs by The Beatles become living material for two pianos tuned a quarter-tone apart. Their shared cultural memory remains audible while melody, harmony and tuning continually shift the music into another shape.

Seppe Gebruers plays two pianos tuned a quarter-tone apart, Nils Vermeulen double bass, and Paul Lytton or Marek Patrman drums and percussion. Rather than playing standards, the trio plays with them.

Jazz standards are dissected on a microtonal level: familiar melodies fade, divert and return inside a larger improvised story. The recordings below feature Paul Lytton at Summer Bummer Festival (2021) and Marek Patrman at De Koer (2021).

Seppe Gebruers and drummer Lander Gyselinck meet through quarter-tone pianos and drums. In this concert fragment they play with “And I Love Her” by Lennon–McCartney: a familiar song becomes the material for a new encounter.

A duo recording by Thijs Troch and Seppe Gebruers centred on two harmoniums: breathing instruments, close tuning and slowly changing acoustic interference. Recorded in 2017 and released by Aspen Edities in 2022.

Three generations of European improvisers meet in five unedited improvisations. Seppe’s two quarter-tone pianos, Hugo Antunes’s prepared and unprepared double bass, and Paul Lovens’s drums, cymbals and gongs investigate microtonality, time and the physical space of the room.

A cinema concert for Charles Dekeukeleire’s experimental silent film Histoire de détective (1929), with a live soundtrack for two pianos tuned a quarter-tone apart.

The soundtrack grew from research into what live music can do with—not simply to—a film. It was presented at Bozar in February 2024.

Rorschach expands the Antiduo encounter into a quartet of two pianists and two drummers. Instead of a fixed image, the music offers an unstable field in which each player and listener can hear a different form.

The encounter grew from their 2013 Jazz Middelheim concert. Across eleven pieces—nine compositions and two collective improvisations—the quartet balances clear forms with open improvisation, lyricism with abstraction, and density with clarity.

A piano duo born from a teacher–student relationship that deliberately unsettles the conventional hierarchy of the duo. Recordings made between 2010 and 2012 became eighteen instant compositions.

An eclectic large ensemble in which jazz, composition and collective improvisation remain in motion. The group released Abraham in 2012 and Twice Left Handed // Shavings in 2015.
